Slides were an extremely popular photographic medium from the 1940s thru the mid-1970's, at which point color prints became less expensive and ended their reign. Properly stored, most slides shot on good quality film have held up well and can be digitized with wonderful results. Generally, older slides and photos show signs of deterioration such as color fading, color shifting, dust and mold damage. Digitizing slides and photos has become the best way to preserve and share them with family and friends.

How we Scan
All scanning is done on site. Your media is kept organized, in any groups that you have designated, and is stored in a dedicated workbox. We begin by air-brushing away any loose dust and particles. Then, we use high-end scanning equipment to capture digital images of your slides and photos. Finally, we crop, rotate and color-correct the images in Photoshop to give you scans that are often an improvement over the pictures you started with. The digital files that we create will be kept in the order you specify and custom file names can be supported. The output format for your slides can be in JPEG or TIFF.

Scanning Resolutions
The following table details our "standard" and "high" scanning resolutions expressed in dpi (dots per inch), which are also known as ppi (pixels per inch). Standard resolution is typically more than enough for uses like online photo albums, DVD slideshows and same-size prints. The high resolution option captures what many experts believe is the maximum amount of detail from the original image, and is most often used for printing enlargements.
